"Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the
day. You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they
are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your
testimonies are my meditation." NKJV

P S A L M 119:97-99
1) Pray and ask the Holy Spirit for revelation and understanding of the deep truths in the verse you are memorizing.

2) Memorize the reference when working on the verse. This is important to assist you in locating the verse in the future.

3) Locate the verse you are memorizing in your Bible. Highlight
or underline the verse if you are comfortable doing so in your Bible. Read the verses before and after the text. Knowing the context (who is speaking, the setting, the main point(s) of what is being said) is an important component in memorizing the verse.

4) Use a Bible dictionary or concordance to look up words or important background information for further clarification. You will find a list of Bible Resources at www.easybiblememory.ca/resources

5) While you may be tempted to work on several verses at the same time, it is best that you work on only 1 to 2 verses at a time.  Ensure that you are able to quote both verse and reference with ease before moving on to the next verse.

6) Pause the CD at the end of each verse. Repeat the verse to yourself several times. Review the track again if you are having difficulty.

7)Share the verse with others in your conversations. Repeating the verse in this manner will facilitate retention of the verse. You will find that others will be encouraged as you speak the Word of Life to them.

8) Meditate on the verse for a few days.  This involves repeating the verse to yourself over and over again, personalizing each phrase. Meditating on the verse will not only assist with memorization; you will also receive revelation and understanding of the verse.

9) Speak out the verse in your daily prayer time. Personalize the verse by inserting your name wherever possible. Use the Prayer Confession to get you started on this.

10) Have a Bible memorization partner. This could be your spouse, relative or a close friend. Having a partner will motivate you to be consistent with your Bible memorization.

11) Take 5 minutes each morning to repeat the verse(s) to yourself until you are confident that have memorized and retained the verse(s)

12) Set aside 10 minutes each week to review all of the Scripture verses you have memorized. This is an important step to retain all of the verses you have learned.
